Prayer

Prayer

Prayer is a vitally important part of the life of our church. We ask and encourage everyone committed to RLCC to come to the Thursday prayer meeting held in the Mosborough Methodist main church building.

Our Thursday prayer meetings provide an opportunity to give praise and thanks to God for what he has done in our lives both individually and as a body, and to bring our needs and aspirations before him. Topics for prayer cover individuals, groups within the church and national and international issues.

*Vision

  • To advance and fulfil the God’s purposes on earth through prayer and Spirit-led obedience.
  • To shift communities and destroy the works of the enemy through prophetic and governmental prayers.

As a church, we believe in community transformation through prayer. So, in addition to our individual prayer times and weekly corporate prayers in church, we periodically do prayer walks in the area where our church is located, asking God to transform that place and the people who live there.

Our idea for a ‘prayer walk’ is based in part, on the account in Joshua 6, where God directed the Israelites to march around the city of Jericho. After the designated number of trips around the city, the people were told to raise a loud shout and the priests were to blow their shofars. Their obedience brought down the walls of the city.  In Genesis 13:17, God told Abram, “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

John the apostle also said:  “…this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14, 15)

You are welcome to join one of our prayer walks. If you need more information, please speak to someone on the leadership team.

*Vision

  • To provide a more tangible and hands-on experience in which to pray more effectively for our community.
  • To partner with God’s Spirit to see His kingdom come, in and around the communities near our church, and the city.
