Vision Statement

We see River of Life Community Church as:

  1. A church that transcends race, class, gender and cultural barriers both in leadership and general membership; a bridge builder, joining together believers of diverse backgrounds, within and around Sheffield (Acts 13:1; 8:4, 5).
  1. A church that encourages and honours team ministry, without downplaying the need for a principal leader, in line with the New Testament principle of ‘headship plus plurality’ (Acts 16:10; Galatians 2:9,12; 1 Corinthians 12:28).
  1. A church that will be a resource centre for all Believers, towards effective individual and corporate ministry; A sending church that will raise, train and release anointed men and women to take unchartered territories with the message of the gospel of Christ (Acts 11:26, 29).
  1. A church that will be an operating base for prophetic and governmental prayer (2 Chronicles 32:20). A people who understand that to be able to impact society in any way, shape or form, there’s need to tap into an unhindered and often beyond natural understanding, power of prayer (Acts 4:23, 24, 29, 31).
  1. A church that values worship (Acts 13:2); with the understanding that worship is far more than singing; more than just the bending of the knee and bowing down; it is a ‘Spirit-driven’ and ‘Spirit-inspired’ act of honouring a sovereign and superior power (God), climaxing in dialogue between heaven and earth.
  1. A church that upholds sound doctrine (Titus 2:1); with the full understanding that our faith is based on a specific message. The overall teaching of the church contains many elements, but the primary message is explicitly defined: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures [and] . . . he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” 1 Corinthians 15:3. Change that message and the basis of faith shifts from Christ, to something else (Galatians2:6-9).
  1. A church that teaches and demonstrates that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit given for the benefit of the Christian community in the early church are still operational today (1 Corinthians 12:8-10).
